Jefferson County Commission Sets FY2027 Tax Levy, Approves Planning Commission Appointments
The Jefferson County Commission met in a special session on April 21, 2026, and unanimously approved the property tax levy rate for the upcoming fiscal year 2027. Commissioners also voted 4-1 to send appointment letters to Planning Commission members who were selected on April 2, 2026, after a motion to table the issue failed for lack of a second.

Planning Commission Composition and Appointments
The commission took up a discussion about the makeup of the Planning Commission board, possible changes to the Planning Commission ordinance, and potential new appointments to the board.

Commissioner Keys moved to direct the county administrator to send official appointment letters to the Planning Commission members who were chosen on April 2, 2026. Commissioner Hefestay seconded the motion.
